Veonna Burne, in her family tree at Ancestry, states that Lucy was born, and died, in Durban, Natal, South Africa where her father William was an advocate (from 1880 until 1935) and also a town councillor (from 1886 to 1891 and again from 1898 to 1904). Veonna also states that Lucy’s mother was Lucy Mary Spring (1862 – 1929), who William had married on 28 Jun 1881.

Lucy married Roger Oliver Bellville Atcherley on 21 March 1914 at Lower Umgeni, Durban.
