Shirley Elizabeth Atcherley died on 8 August 1913 at 650 North Central, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, aged 38. As you can see from her gravestone above (located at Forest Home Cemetery in Chicago), she was born on the other side of the Atlantic, at Swindon in Wiltshire (on 4 April 1875). What her memorial inscription doesn’t show is that her real name was Elizabeth Martha Atcherley.
