Awarded the O.B.E. in 1975, for services to local government and the woollen industry. Died 7 Aug 2009 in New Zealand and buried 12 Aug 2009 at Mangatera Cemetery, Dannevirke, Tararua, North Island, New Zealand.

Born 3 Dec 1836 at Loppington, Shropshire and baptised there 6 Dec 1836, son of Thomas Dickin and Jane Massy, and grandson of Thomas Dickin (1737 – 1805) and Sarah Atcherley / Acherley (1752 – 1803). Died 13 Feb 1919 in Shropshire (most likely at home, Loppington House) and buried at Loppington St Michael & All Angels.
William Acherley Parks Dickin, M.R.C.S. Born 3 Jun 1834 at Broughton, Wem, Shropshire and baptised there 30 Jun 1834, son of Roger Spencer Dickin and Jane Parks, and grandson of Thomas Dickin (1737 – 1805) and Sarah Atcherley / Acherley (1752 – 1803). Died 9 Aug 1867 in Lancashire.

Richard Atcherley Downes. Born 8 Jun 1860 at Tipton, Staffordshire, son of John Downes (brother of the Richard Atcherley Downes above) and his wife Ann. He was therefore a great grandson of Richard Downes (1734 – 1776) and Mary Atcherley (1737 – 1775). Died 9 Jan 1941 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Frederick Atcherley Edwards. Born 28 Jan 1809 at Welsh Frankton, Shropshire, and baptised 30 Jan 1809 at Whittington, Shropshire, son of Edward Edwards and Mary Edwards, and grandson of John Edwards (1733 – 1806) and Mary Atcherley (1746/7 – 1834). Died 29 Feb 1868 at Walsall, Staffordshire.
Robert Atcherley Edwards. Born at Baschurch, Shropshire, and baptised there 4 Dec 1791, son of John Edwards (1733 – 1806) and Mary Atcherley (1746/7 – 1834) (and therefore an uncle of Frederick Atcherley Edwards above). Married his second cousin once removed Sarah Atcherley (see The marital mystery of Sarah Atcherley). Died 24 Jan 1855 at Shrewsbury, Shropshire and buried 29 Jan 1855 at Baschurch, Shropshire.
Sarah Atcherley Edwards. Name given in error when death of Sarah Edwards, née Atcherley, wife of Robert Atcherley Edwards (see above) was registered in 1853.

Elsmere / Elsmore
Mary Atcherley Elsmere / Elsmore. Born at Ercall Hall in High Ercall, Shropshire, and baptised 10 Mar 1826 at High Ercall, daughter of Richard Elsmere and Ann Dixon. Her Elsmere ancestry can be traced back to Samuel Elsmere and Alice Leigh, making her a 4x great grandniece (or 5x great niece) of Roger Atcherley (1615 – 1661/2) and Elizabeth Elsmere (1617/18 – 1692). A more likely explanation for her Atcherley forename however is that she was a niece of James Atcherley (1784 – 1834) and his wife Mary Dixon (1789 – 1865). Married Samuel Newey, and died as Mary Atcherley Newey in Staffordshire, where she was buried 15 Jan 1890 at Harborne.

Elizabeth Atcherley Evans. Born at Dovaston in the parish of Kinnerley, Shropshire and baptised 25 Aug 1833 at Kinnerley, daughter of Thomas Evans (birth/death dates unknown) and Jane Atcherley (1805 – 1866). Married John Bartholomew Mansell and emigrated with him and their children to Canada. After John’s death married Michael Riley, but her name was name given as Elizabeth Mansell when her death (on 18 Dec 1919 at Maidstone, Essex, Ontario, Canada) was registered.
Presumed living. Connection with the Atcherley family unknown.

Michael John Atcherley ffolliott-Foster D.F.C. Born 6 Jul 1921 at Poona, India, son of Reginald Frank Foster and Margaret Ada Folliott, and grandson of Walter Flower Folliott (1867 – ~1928) and Muriel Atcherley (1872 – 1956). Served with the RAF in WW2 and later worked as a book editor. Died ~1997 in New Zealand.
