Richard of Marton

… and his descendants. A continuation of Thomas of Marton’s tree.

Reviewed and updated 24 Jan 2015

Richard Atcherley of Marton married twice, and produced two sons (Richard and Thomas) who lived into adulthood. Although neither of these sons had children of their own, one of them (Richard junior) bequeathed the Marton estate to his nephew, David Francis Jones on the condition that he (and his heirs) took the surname Atcherley and bore the family’s arms. Thus the Marton line was kept alive for another 130 years or so, until the death of David’s great grandson, Sir David Francis William (“Batchy”) Atcherley, in 1970.
